THE GRATEFUL DEAD ALMANAC - Issue #1, Fall Issue, 1993 - Published by Marin County, CA - First Printing Grateful Dead Fan Bulletin - 10" x 14" (unfolded) - Front cover of this unique 8 page zine printed on textured, high quality, thick, white stock features an opening story entitled "GREETINGS FROM THE DEAD" headed up with a black and white photo of the Dead (see image linked below), along with a brief discussion of the August 17th planting of a mighty live Oak Tree in memory of Rick Griffin, at Petaluma, CA, not far from the site of Rick's fatal 1991 motorcycle accident, an "In Memoriam" photo of Sun Ra (also RIP at the time), an extract of a poem by Robert Hunter, a review of Dick's Picks, a piece about Ken Nordine w/photo, color ads for Grateful Dead T-Shirts, stickers, stocking stuffers, Dead Wear, etc. - Folded in half for intended mailing, I believe I picked up this copy at a local Portland record store at the time - Haven't seen any around since! - Likely Ultra Mega Rare - Pristine B+ Condition - 20.00

GRATEFUL DEAD - Aug 22, 1992 at Country Fairgrounds in Veneta, Oregon (Near Eugene) - 1 9/16" x 4 7/32" - Voided BGP 3/4 ticket features raised black glittered ink illo of ape staring at skull surrounded by hand created block lettering above and below, tightly hugging the ape - One copy only - Comp Ticket (given to security personnel etc., rarer than standard tickets for the show) - Pristine A- condition - 35.00 - Also have a 1 9/16" x 4 7/32" BGP 3/4 (stub missing) Comp ticket (rubber stamped "VOID" in black at bottom edge) for the Aug 23, 1992 Veneta concert the day after the above show, though this one features the Skeleton Jester Mandolin Player created by Stanley Mouse for an early Grateful Dead Songbook in the early 70's - Image is in green with glitter - Pristine A- condition - 35.00

GRATEFUL DEAD - EARLY RADIO SURVEYS / TOP 50 LISTINGS - From KGAR (1967-1968) - A Portland, Oregon Radio Station

 

 

KGAR BOSS '15-50' Portland Oregon Radio Survey listing for the week of July 14, 1967 -First / Only printing radio survey - 7" x 8" unfolded,7" x 3 9/16" is the front cover size (while originally folded for distribution between the two covers vertically, it is currently stored flat) - This radio survey was the fourth issued in the Portland Oregon KGAR radio survey series, the owner has written "issue no. 4" at the upper left hand corner of the interior Top 50 listing in blue ink (see scan below) - First / Only Printing radio survey - 7" x 8" unfolded, 7"x 3 9/16" is the front cover size (while originally folded for distribution between the two covers vertically, it is currently stored flat) - Front cover features black on very light pink paper photo of a"Boss Jock" Disc Jockey Paul Oscar Anderson and a small psychedelic lettering advertisement for the upcoming Tuesday July 18th GRATEFUL DEAD appearance at Masonic Temple (in Portland) in the summer of 1967 - Only copy I've seen in the 9+ years I extensively searched for concert posters and handbills in the Portland area and in the following 8 years as well! - Interior "Top 50" pages have a strip of fading along the bottom which arcs up the left hand side and is not easily seen since the difference in the background paper color is subtle, though visible at a few feet if you are looking for it - The owner has written numbers on the Top 50 listing on the inside right hand page (page 3, see scan below) in blue ink, though the indentations are only barely visible in a couple of background areas of the back cover in the vicinity of the dated Grateful Dead ad (barely visible below the psych lettering and the date if you are focusing extremely closely) - Ripple in the paper at upper right corner of the front cover side should flatten under weight eventually, minor extremely tiny corner dings at lower right corner and upper right hand edge of front cover - Ultra Mega Rare - Pristine A-/B+ condition overall (excepting the ink on the Top 50 listing, inside pages/backside) - Inquire for Availability & Current Price

"They're going to The Grateful Dead '93" - 1993 - First Printing Concert Handbill / Ad for bus tour (possibly "the Green Tortoise"line) to the GD concert in Eugene or somewhere else in Oregon - 4 29/64" x 5 13/32" - Horizontal paper handbill features sci-fi illustration of flying saucer landing in black on thin white paper with folks pointing at the saucer etc. - Has two parallel semi-horizontal orange magic marker strokes over the top of the illustration, possibly to mark it for a boarding pass? - I've only seen two or three copies of this item, which I picked up in Portland, Oregon at a record store - Ultra Mega Rare - Pristine A-/B+ Condition - 15.00
